Daddy, I miss you.

Memorial Day.
A day to clean grave sites and pay respects.
A day to pay tribute to those that served.
A day for remembering.
A time for family.

Picture from here

This is a picture of the cemetery where Daddy is.
The old oak trees shade the roads and it keeps the heat at bay as best is possible in South Texas.
There's a stream that runs through the property on the East side and it is a well kept cemetery as I have every seen.
When you stand and face Dad's grave site there is an old farm house behind him maybe half a city block in distance. He picked his spot because of the view of that farm house and the huge oak tree that stands at the head of his resting place.
If not for the fact that my father is buried there, it would be a beautiful place.
Today is the anniversary of his burial. Fitting that Memorial Day is the day to pay respects to those passed and spend time cleaning and maintaining grave site.

Today when the heat of the day is passed, we will go visit with Daddy.
Spend some time just sitting and remembering when.
We'll pull weeds or do whatever needs to be done.
Plant flowers, share stories and be family.
Some tears will be shed and some laughs will be shared.

Sometimes all at the same time.

I miss you, daddy.
