There's a joke 'round these parts.
It goes like this:
We have 2 seasons in Texas, Summer ........ and AUGUST.
This summer we aren't the only ones that are getting extreme heat in August. 104 in Dallas, 107 in Arkansas, 100 farther up the East Coast where snow is more the norm.
This is a good time of year to find indoor things to do. Spring cleaning, arts and crafts, start the Christmas shopping online, minor redecorating that doesn't require much opening the door.
It's also a good time to drag out the sprinkler and bathing suits for the kids. Small plastic pools are a good place to spend a little time under the shade tree. Dinner cooked on the pit saves heating up the house this time of year and can be a nice way to spend a little time with family enjoying conversation instead of television.
