I have a friend that is always urging me to try new things. He thinks I am brave and always willing to learn. Because of him I learned to use a couple computer programs that seemed daunting.
Because of him I am learning to read crochet patterns.
He says since I can read blueprints, patterns will come easy.
I'm not so sure he's right, but I'm willing to try
This is an example of those I make without a pattern. They always get snapped up by someone that wants to wear them and I never see them again.
I have made several pairs of slippers over the years, but not from pattern - just from doing it.
Last night I tried a pattern for slippers from the internet. It looked easy, didn't have many different stitches and said it was a pattern for beginners. After some research to determine that I knew what stitch was what - I made a slipper like the pattern and bragged to him that I had read the pattern.
I'm not sure I like the pattern slipper better than the non-pattern slipper, but the object was to learn to read a pattern, not like the pattern one better.
